Today I decided that in order to bring back a few of my past clients, I needed to do something out of the ordinary. Have you seen that episode of “The Office” where Michael takes very expensive gift baskets to all their former clients trying to win them back? I think those were actually ones from the Harry and David collection (very nice). Some of you reading this are thinking I am going to give you a great place to save money on Harry and David. So here you go, get your Harry and David coupons here.
But no, I want to tell you how to make your own gift baskets that are sure to kick your clients love for you and loyalty into overdrive.
1) Always include some alcohol. Yeah, I know you guys are gonna think I am some kinda lush, but boos always pays, seriously. You just have to find out what kind of wine and spirits your client likes best.
If you can pick the right wine for the right occasion and include that in your basket, it’s a sure winner.
2) Meat Plays It Up – who doesn’t like some good smoked meat? men like smoked meat, and so do the ladeez! LOL
Of course, if your client is an organic vegetable distributor, meat may not be the best choice, but other than that, you are a winner with it. Make sure it pairs nicely with that wine or beer you are including.
3) Good basket Itself – The key to all of this is the actual basket you put it in. PRO TIP: trust me, the basket will get used in other places and serve as a constant reminder of your gift and you! If you get a nice basket, maybe your client’s wife will use it as a lunch basket later on down the road… or display it in their house someone. My wife displays baskets with crap in them all over the place.
This make the gift continue to keep giving (cliche’) on down the line, but it makes for a lasting memory.
Do it this weekend, get the right gift basket and make it yourself.. who needs Harry and David or any of them guys?
